I write for the popular YouTube science education series SciShow Kids, which has over one hundred and seventy thousand subscribers and over forty-seven million views. On SciShow Kids, friendly host Jessi and her robot rat Squeaks tackle challenging scientific concepts and present them in an engaging and easy to digest format.
My plays have been developed with The Flea Theater, Yaddo, Play By Play Lab, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the Vermont Studio Center. I’ve received recognition for my plays from The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Playwriting Conference and Fresh Ground Pepper.
I earned an MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and a BA in Religious Studies from Pomona College, where I received an award for my thesis on Zen Buddhism. I’ve also studied with Mac Wellman, Rogelio Martinez, and playwrights’ collective 13P, and served as a teaching assistant to composer/lyricist Adam Gwon.
As a longtime member of NY Writers Coalition, a Brooklyn-based non-profit that provides free and low-cost creative writing workshops to underserved communities, I developed and led a long-running workshop at Bayview Correctional Facility. I've led workshops for young children, pre-teens, and teens, too, as well as other workshops for adults.
Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to hearing from you!
